Since 1932 • Uruguayan Beekeeping Legacy

From a Family Apiary to an International Propolis Exporter

The history of GAR S.A.S. reflects nearly a century of dedication to beekeeping, natural products and industrial innovation. What began as a family beekeeping operation evolved into one of South America's most recognized propolis extraction companies serving international manufacturers worldwide.

The GAR Heritage

Built on generations of knowledge, the GAR story is closely connected to the development of modern beekeeping and propolis extraction in Uruguay.

1932

The Beginning

A Swiss-German immigrant family settled in Uruguay and established a beekeeping operation in the department of Colonia. This marked the birth of what would later become one of the country's most respected names in the beekeeping industry.

1950s–1960s

Building Expertise

The Roth family expanded its beekeeping activities and developed extensive experience in hive management, honey production and the collection of premium bee-derived raw materials.

1970s

Entering the Propolis Industry

Ing. Andrés Alfonso Roth began researching the extraction, classification and industrialization of propolis. At a time when propolis remained largely unknown in global markets, GAR started developing specialized extraction processes designed for industrial applications.

1980s

International Expansion

GAR S.A.S. strengthened its export operations and began supplying propolis extracts to international manufacturers. The company gained recognition for combining traditional beekeeping expertise with industrial-scale production and reliable export logistics.

1990s–Today

Continuous Development

Investment in quality systems, process control, traceability and export readiness helped GAR establish long-term relationships with customers across multiple international markets.

Uruguayan Beekeeping Tradition

The Uruguayan Savanna Advantage

GAR's history is deeply connected to the ecological environment of the Uruguayan Savanna, one of South America's most unique natural regions.

This landscape provides botanical diversity, low industrial contamination levels and stable ecosystems that contribute to the distinctive profile of Uruguayan propolis highly valued by international manufacturers.
